About Us

I'm Dan, and my wife is Cyn. We are the passionate creators behind Dancyn 3D Prints.

I know... the name Dancyn 3D is a bit confusing. I can't tell you how many people get us confused for a dance studio; it's actually kind of funny. Anyway... we decided to keep the name and not change it; it is a homage to our thriving relationship!

We started this business with 1 3D printer in our 300 sq. ft. studio and grew it into a 7-figure online business.

Over the past 2 years, I decided to try to recycle 3D printing filament, both waste from multicolour 3d printing as well as failed 3D prints. The idea was simple: get a shredder to shred the plastics into small chunks, buy a cheap single-screw desktop extruder, and recycle the waste back into 3D print filament that I could then use in my 3D Print Farm. Long story short, it just takes too much time, effort, and money to do this at scale.

So I pivoted. Instead of extruding recycled filament, I was extruding normal PLA with no recycled shreds... with color. In fact, I got pretty good at it; I was running 4 of these small machines in parallel. What sucked is that these machines produced 1 roll every 45 minutes, but x4 it was a decent amount of filament for our print farm.
I then got a TON of requests to start selling some of the colors I was producing in-house. I decided to invest in purchasing an industrial line - the first line could produce up to 20kg/hour, a very big step up from my desktop lines.

So.... I pulled the trigger and put a deposit down. While waiting, I was doing market research. The goal was simple: stage 1 was proof of concept. Would people be willing to buy USA filament? What I found was that a large portion of USA manufacturers were selling filament for $20/kg+... which I thought was absurdly high. So I ran some numbers, and I thought I could compete with them, not dollar for dollar, but with advertising and marketing and strategic paths. Worst-case scenario, if no one wanted to buy Dancyn 3D filament, I could just use the filament for our in-house 3D Print farm.

Which leads up to where we are now... at the current time of me writing this. Btw, this will change in a few months.. Maybe I will just put edits in this so I don't lose any of this past history.

Stage 1 is complete - since launching Dancyn 3D filament, we have manufactured over 10,000 kg of filament and sold nearly half of that. We have expanded onto Amazon and TikTok, and built out our website. We plan to expand into Walmart in the coming months as well. I have a clear signal that people are willing to buy and support a USA-based 3D Print manufacturing company. We have tested and perfected our PLA lineup as well as our PETG lineup; however, because we only have 1 extrusion line, things are a bit difficult to keep everything in stock, and switching between PLA and PETG is an absolute nightmare.
So this brings us to Stage 2 of this plan... which is where I am at now. Actually, Stages 2 and 3 are sort of combined because Stage 2 was to just purchase another line dedicated to PETG, and Stage 3 would be to expand into a line that can produce gradients/rainbow. Well, I bought 2 lines, one of which is a rainbow line. The goal here is to have line 2 be dedicated to PETG, and line 3 will be for specialty colors, which... my wife is very excited to experiment with colors.

Stage 4 - I believe I will be at capacity in the current space I am in, and it might be a real consideration to expand into a bigger warehouse, and I would expand into getting more extrusion lines... will that happen? Who knows. Will I have enough demand to support 3 lines? - These are questions that I will have answered later in the year.

For now, this is a little blog about us, Dancyn 3D, who we are, and what our goals are. Our end goal is to become the largest filament manufacturer here in the United States!

Thank you all for reading and supporting our journey.
